Wonderful Winter-y Weekend

We spent last weekend in Bath, where we marveled at the architecture and understood why Jane Austen spent so much time there. It is a beautiful city, always one of my favorites in England. This was the girls' first visit, so we had to tour the Roman Baths and walk up to the Circus and the Royal Crescent. We left London early to have a full day in Bath, stayed at a nice old guesthouse just outside of the city center, wandered along the canal and up and down side streets, enjoyed a pint at the Raven as well as some other nice meals out, followed by a full English breakfast on Sunday. And the icing on the cake was...snow! Big white flakes started coming down on Saturday afternoon and Franny literally jumped for joy. Fantastic weekend.

On Sunday afternoon we drove to Devizes, which is just about a half hour from Bath, for Grandma's surprise 90th birthday party. It was great to have so many family members there to celebrate, and Alan & Isabel hosted a lovely luncheon at the old Bear Hotel. It was a special afternoon, and we were so glad that we could be there.

Jenny - these pics are beautiful. I've always wanted to go to Bath. Glad you were able to attend Steve's grandmother's birthday.
